OLD HABITS

Just like the fringe on my boots you move with every step I take
You walk in front of me to make sure that I don’t fall and break
My own heart cause with you I could never
Just like the leather on my saddle we get prettier with time
Together in the weather shiny on the other side
Polished and changed for the better

With you I’m safe
With you I’m safe

I follow you just like a shadow only closer and
If you get tied and bound I’ll find a way to free your hands
I’ll wash them clean of everything but me
Sometimes you might get thirsty so I’ll catch the rain
Just like the ice in your glass I’ll rattle when you need a drink
We’ll never run dry on love or anything

I’ll keep you safe
I’ll keep you safe
I’ll keep you safe

I keep a locket on my neck that holds your face
I’ll spend forever making sure I can erase
Every tear you ever thought about crying
You make me feel like I’m the only girl in the whole wide world
I wanna hold you like a hand full of diamonds and pearls
That I guard with my life or die trying

I’ll keep you safe
I’ll keep you safe
I’ll keep you safe
I’ll keep you safe
Safe

-Miranda Lambert

I say goodnight to an empty space beside me
The only reply is the beat of my heart
I wake up and I make two black cups of coffee
The routine being with you taught me left its mark
These old, old habits die hard

I get in the car and turn the radio on
Expecting you to sing along but you never start
It’s a lonely road and I can’t see where it ends
Where I’m going’ and where we’ve been are so far apart
These old, old habits die hard

I said goodbye when you let go
Still I hold on to all I’ve known
Wherever I am there you are
‘Cause old, old habits die hard

These four walls are slowly closing in around me
Without your light,
I’m here drowning in the dark

I pick up the the phone then I come straight to my senses
I know the consequences of going that far
Old, old habits die hard

I said goodbye when you let go
Still I hold on to all I’ve known
Wherever I am there you are
These old, old habits die hard

I say goodnight to an empty space beside me
The only reply is the beat of my heart

– Justin Moore and Mirand Lambert

To say goodbye to summer we went to one last outdoor concert. Justin Moore and Miranda Lambert… Does it really get better than that? (Not including Eric Church of course) We got to the venue a bit late so we missed their opener and a few of Justin Moore’s set but they were still great. Miranda just sets herself so far apart from other female country artists. Of course Kase had to wear a stupid Fox jersey no matter how much I begged him to wear a shirt that I picked out. (Usually he wears whatever I pick, but he decided to be stubborn this time) I was really hoping Justin and Miranda would play “Old Habits” together since it is their duet and it’s just such a beautiful song but to my disappointment they didn’t. Justin has said before that “Old Habits” is the truest country song he’s ever recorded and he couldn’t imagine singing it without featuring Miranda. I would love if you shared your end of summer rituals with me!
