Today we went for a walk around mid-town for the first time this year. We just drove downtown parked and walked with no place in mind for a destination. We realized that over planning truly kills magic. We discovered places today that we would have never planned to go see. The river walk area quickly became our new favorite spot in all of Reno. We couldn’t get enough between the Truckee River Walk to finding wall murals on the side of coffee shops on a random street. So many cities are full of gems just waiting on you to find them. Go outside today and walk around with no destination in mind, I promise you will find something special you didn’t even know you were looking for.
“In 1909 twenty-two year old Alice Ramsey became the first woman to drive across the United States in an automobile. She and her three female companions are depicted here, in her 1909 Maxwell Briscoe, crossing the Nevada desert east of the Truckee Meadows.”
Truckee River Walk
What more inspiration do you need to conquer your dreams than randomly coming across a mural of a woman who changed history by following her own?
If there is any way for me to show all of you my home and what it is like, the Horizon is it. The Horizon defines every thing that has shaped me into who I am. From my love of horses to the deep friendship that I hold with my family. This is my grandparents home, their friends home, and everyone else’s if they need a comforting place to stay. I grew up over more than one ranch and all of them are the Horizon to me. It is not the place but the atmosphere, wherever my grandparents and our horses are is where I have learned patience, gentility, and what it means to be a family. That’s the thing about horse people almost all of them are kind, giving and don’t care who you are. If they like you that makes you family. I have so many memories of the Horizon old and new that I’ll always be sharing with you guys. Whether they are new adventures or ancient ones I hope you enjoy seeing my favorite place on Earth.
ps :: The reason we call it the Horizon is because one day Nicolette and I decided to walk out to the Horizon. We walked all the way past the Horizon that you see in this last picture. And it has stuck ever since.
Gunsmoke says he’s sleepy and doesn’t want to get out of our cosy cloud of a bed. He also says he wishes his mom would wake up and play with him. How is everybody’s Wednesday so far? Mine is a bit chilly.
Merry Christmas lovelies, we had a pretty good one over here in Cotati! I have bronchitis so I wasn’t allowed to give any of my munchkins kisses so that kind of made it no fun. Buttt we had a great dinner and a lot of laughs together. My grandma made raviolis with her special pasta sauce and baked a ham. I don’t know what I will ever do without her cooking someday, maybe I should do some posts on her recipes. Anyway last night we had Christmas Eve with the Tillery side and I made crab dip for my Pappa since he’s addicted to it. I should probably show you how to make that too! Is there anything more special than watching the joy of babies opening presents? I’m not sure that there is. Every day that I am with my little ones is better than any other, watching them grow and bud into their own little personalities. I spent most of Christmas Day sitting with my aunt Lic on the couch since she is pregnant and about ready to pop she can’t do much else. On January 16th we will have another princess to add to the Gantenbrat pack and I can hardly contain my excitement. Poor Grady is the only boy out of all seven of us. I’m sure when he’s older we will all intimidate whatever girls he brings home. We had some good talks about everything going on lately and I have to say I am the luckiest girl in the world to have such a wonderful family that I can talk to about anything.
Here they are waiting to be unleashed on their presents
Lily says she did her “fancy move” can you guess which one she is?
Grady went through my phone and when he got to this one he looked up at me and announced, “Now that’s a good one” so how could it not be my favorite?
This was my Christmas morning before we drove to Cotati. I’m not sure who I prefer more cuddling puppies or squealing munchkins.
